The Friends of The National Archives help fund many new projects at Kew, and it is the Friends’ fundraising that helps to preserve our archival heritage.

Our funds are currently obtained via:

  • Membership subscriptions
  • Gift Aid receipts from HMRC
  • On-line fund raising schemes, e.g. Easyfundraising
  • Legacies
  • Charitable donations from organisations and the general public

Legacies

By leaving FTNA a gift in your will, you can help ensure that our support of The National Archives is extended. There are a number of different ways to give through your will and your donation will be exempt from Inheritance Tax. For more information please see the Friends Legacy leaflet which was updated in July 2021. A copy can be found here.

Before making a decision if you would like to know more about the work of the Friends or to discuss options and possibilities, then please contact us. We will treat all discussions in the strictest confidence. We cannot offer legal advice but we can clarify and explain how our financial resources are currently being used for the benefit of The National Archives. A discussion would be particularly helpful if you have a purpose in mind for a legacy.

Support for the Friends is greatly valued and legacies form an important part of that. Monies disbursed from legacies will always be attributed and acknowledged.
