Yesterday members of the Friends’ Council met with the Independent Cinema Office and staff members from The National Archives to discuss the possibilities for screening a new series of archive films at Friends’ sponsored events at The National Archives. The films highlight various aspects of life in Britain, primarily during the first half of the 20th century. The series focuses on railways, rural life, LGBT Britain, Black Britain, coast and sea, and South-Asian Britain. We plan to organise a series of screenings, possibly with related original document displays in some cases, sometime from July onwards. Full details will be published on our events page in due course.
